Homework Week 6

Bitsy Games

I played two very different games on Bitsy and overall had a good time. One game I played was cute, Christmas themed, and centered around romance called “Three Lesbians in a Winter Special, while the other was a horror game about a creepy library, necromancy, magicks, and death called “The End of Decay”. I think it was a more rounded experience in playing two very different games as it gave me good insight into the different things that a Bitsy game can be.

The first game was very simple, the only prolonged gameplay was picking up sticks for firewood, but it was offset by good character insight and writing with every stick picked up. It was very cute and the accompanying music really set a good tone. (It was also very nice to see a queer poly-amorous game, though short, it was on the front page of popular games which means a lot to see.)

The second game was different in less characterization and more creepy book reading, so it was a lot more word heavy. It broke the reading up a few times with moments to walk around the crumbling library and talk to the librarian but mostly it was just reading this spooky essay/book which got a little boring after a bit. Then at the end I was really surprised when the game switched styles and became a first-person 3-d game, with a creepy skeleton following my movements until I reached the conclusion.
